Its director presides the Superior Council of Sports. The different National Federations which practice diverse sports depend on this Superior Council. Sports clubs are connected to the federations and at the present moment operate as independent companies.

A number of responsibilities involving sports matters has been transferred to the Autonomous Communities, which have their own sport Advisory Boards and General Directions that organize sports regionally. For sports to develop in Spain, Physical Education and Sports must be present at the primary level, for children and youth. Physical Education form part of the grade and high school study plan and both the Autonomous Communities and the city councils promote sports at this primary level by offering different sporting facilities. The agreement made by the Superior Council of Sports, the Autonomous Communities, town halls and the Secretary of State for Education has permitted the building of swimming pools in public schools and institutions for student use during school hours and to be enjoyed by the rest of the population at other times. Nearly 20,000 million pesetas have been earmarked for these works.

What Is Sport Education and How Does It Work?

Sport education is a curriculum and instruction model designed to provide authentic, educationally rich sport experiences for girls and boys in the context of school physical education (Siedentop, 1994). Sport education has an important curricular implication; that is, it cannot be fitted easily into a short unit, multiactivity program. Sport education also has important instructional implications; that is, its purposes are best achieved through combinations of direct instruction, cooperative small-group work, and peer teaching, rather than by total reliance on directive, drill-oriented teaching.

Basic Features

Sport education has six key features, which derive from how sport is conducted in community and interschool contexts (i.e., they derive from the authentic form of the activity within the larger culture). These features are seasons, affiliation, formal competition, culminating events, record keeping, and festivity.

Seasons. The "unit" in sport education is often two to three times longer than typical physical education units. The operational assumption here is that less is more or that fewer activities covered in greater depth result in better educational outcomes than can be realized in the more typical, short unit, multiple-activity format.

Affiliation. Students become members of teams at the start of a season and retain their team affiliation throughout the season. Students plan, practice, and compete as a team. This feature also derives from evidence that suggests that much of the social meaning derived from sport experiences, as well as a large part of the personal growth often attributed to positive sport experiences, is intimately related to affiliation with a persisting group.

Formal competition. Sport seasons are typically defined by a schedule of formal competition interspersed with practice sessions. The affiliation and formal competition features combine to provide the opportunity for planning and goal setting that create the context for pursuing important outcomes that have real meaning for students

Education As Important Factor

Education is very important for our lives. Without education people wouldn’t have their high-developed machine and would believe that the Earth is a planet around that all another planets are moving. Why people want to have their high education? As for me I have my reasons why I want to get high education.

First reason I want to get high education is for career purpose. From the early age parents very often tell to their children that education is very important to find a good job. And this is true because if you want to be a doctor or a lower, or an engineer you must have an education. Among my friends in Russia when I was asking them why they wanted to get their high education very often they were telling me that it is necessary to get a good job and to make a good career. I agree with them because I think that it is easier to begin my career not from nothing, but with the experience and all education that I would gain in the University.

Another reason why I want to get high education is because all members in my family have already received their high education. My father has finished the Institute of Technology, and my mother has finished Medical Institute. All my life I was listening from them that it is very important to get high education. When I was trying to pass my exams for the University in Russia my family was very nervous. It looked like that it wasn’t me who wanted to get to the university, but the whole family were trying with me to pass all exams. I think that family’s support in getting education is very important. At least it was so for me.

Also I want to get my high education because I enjoy studying. All my life I thought that it is very important to be independent and I was trying to be independent since I was a child. I didn’t like to ask my parents to help me with my homework and I was sitting with my homework sometimes till late night but I did myself understand that all must be dependent from yourself and not from someone else. I loved to study and in a high school was an excellent student. All my life I have been though that I could almost everything if I would really want. When I needed to learn English to pass my exams to university and my family didn’t have enough money to pay for tutoring, I took books in the library and step-by-step began learning language. First I thought that it would be impossible to learn language by myself, but I did it and passed all exams to the university. I learned English not just because I needed it to pass exams in the university but also because I was enjoying study.

High education is very important for me. I want to get my high education for career purpose and for my family. All of that reasons helped me to make right decision and hopefully I will graduate from the university

importance of higher education

Education is a very important role in our lives. Everyone has been being educated since the day they were born. There is a rapidly growing demand for a higher education in the world today. Although a higher education is difficult to receive, the rewards of self-improvement, job insurance, a development of character, and social improvements are what is going to satisfy you.
Sure it is hard go to school longer, but learning for personal knowledge will greatly improve you. You learn skills like problem solving which will teach you to figure things out for yourself. A better education will also gain you experience. You would never know what you liked or did not like if you never had a chance to experience it. I do not know about you but I want to make educated decisions in my life. If you don't know how to make educated decisions, you will never be content with yourself. How good does it feel to outsmart someone when you apply what you have been taught or have been able to help somebody just from the education which you received? Knowledge is a very powerful thing that can change the lives of others and yourself

Proposes And Functions

To make matters more complicated, theorists have made a distinction between the purpose of education and the functions of education.(2) A purpose is the fundamental goal of the process—an end to be achieved. Functions are other outcomes that may occur as a natural result of the process— byproducts or consequences of schooling. For example, some teachers believe that the transmission of knowledge is the primary purpose of education, while the transfer of knowledge from school to the real world is something that happens naturally as a consequence of possessing that knowledge—a function of education. As Tom Peters reminds us, "What gets measured, gets done." Regardless of the high sounding rhetoric about the development of the total child, it is the content of assessments that largely drives education. How is the capacity/ability to think creatively assessed in today's schools? To what extent is the typical student recognized and given respect? How often are students given the opportunity to recognize and evaluate different points of view when multiple choice tests require a single 'correct' answer?

Teachers who hold a more humanistic view of the purpose of education often experience stress because the meaning they assign to education differs greatly from the meaning assigned by society or their institution. It is clear in listening to the language of education that its primary focus is on knowledge and teaching rather than on the learner. Students are expected to conform to schools rather than schools serving the needs of students.

Stopping to identify and agree upon a fundamental purpose or purposes of education is rare. One sees nebulous statements in school mission statements, but they are often of the “Mom, baseball, and apple pie” variety that offer little substance on which to build a school culture. Creating meaningful and lasting change in education is unlikely without revisiting this basic definition. At the very least, educators must be challenged to identify and reexamine their beliefs in the light of present knowledge.

It is time for the focus of education to shift from what's "out there—the curriculum, assessments, classroom arrangement, books, computers—to the fundamental assumptions about and definitions of education held by educators and policymakers. NASA did not send men to the moon by building on the chassis of a model T. In the same way, education cannot hope to move beyond its present state on the chassis of 18th century education.

Education According To...

“The central task of education is to implant a will and facility for learning; it should produce not learned but learning people. Faced with cutbacks in physical education courses overthe 1980s and 1990s, physical education teachers were often reduced to teaching sports skills apart from the actual game. Many teachers see sports education as a way of revitalizing physical education and making it more useful tostudents.

Sports education offers many features not present in standard physical education. By using seasons, teaching units that are two to three times longer thanin physical education, sports education teachers have an opportunity to instruct in greater depth. Students are affiliated with a team throughout the semester, and all planning, practice, and competition is carried out in teams. Students find that sports are more meaningful in the context of the group effort and formal competition. Each season has a culminating event such as a championship, which gives students the opportunity to mark their progress. Recordkeeping is part of school sports as an effort to set standards, define goals, provide feedback, and set traditions. Teachers incorporate some sort of festivity into each season as an opportunity to celebrate effort, improvement, and fair play.

Sports education differs from institutionalized sports in many ways. Becauseof participation requirements, all students play at all times. Students are exposed to developmentally appropriate competition; adult forms of games are not used. Students learn the diverse roles inherent in sports competition, such as performer, referee, and scorekeeper. Depending on the season and the sport, they also have opportunities to serve as coach, manager, trainer, statistician, publicity officer, and sports board member. This gives students a better background to enjoy and participate in sports as adults. In addition, theteacher is relieved of some of the managerial responsibilities, enabling himor her to work more closely with students.

Sports education is set up so students can derive larger lessons in cooperation. A class may be divided into three teams, with two of the teams competingand members of the third team handling the diverse roles such as refereeing, then the teams rotate. Students benefit from peer teaching. Coaches lead skill practice, but because the students are organized in teams, they engage in peer teaching to help the team succeed. Because the season is longer than a physical education unit, teachers expect that conflicts will arise within teamsand between teams; sportsmanship rules are enforced.

There are many advantages for students with low skills. They benefit from being part of the team and develop more confidence. In the longer season, they have more time to improve. At-risk students develop better social skills as aside benefit of learning sportsmanship and fair play. The ultimate goal of sports education is for students to become competent, literate, and enthusiastic in sports.

The Meaning Of Education

Webster defines education as the process of educating or teaching (now that's really useful, isn't it?) Educate is further defined as "to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of..." Thus, from these definitions, we might assume that the purpose of education is to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of students. Unfortunately, this definition offers little unless we further define words such as develop, knowledge, and character.

What is meant by knowledge? Is it a body of information that exists "out there"—apart from the human thought processes that developed it? If we look at the standards and benchmarks that have been developed by many states—or at E. D. Hirsch's list of information needed for Cultural Literacy (1), we might assume this to be the definition of knowledge. However, there is considerable research leading others to believe that knowledge arises in the mind of an individual when that person interacts with an idea or experience.

This is hardly a new argument. In ancient Greece, Socrates argued that education was about drawing out what was already within the student. (As many of you know, the word education comes from the Latin e-ducere meaning "to lead out.") At the same time, the Sophists, a group of itinerant teachers, promised to give students the necessary knowledge and skills to gain positions with the city-state.

Education And Learning

Education and learning is one of the most important processes in today’s society.
Today’s youth are tomorrow’s teachers. In the “banking method” or education by memorization, the student’s are not being taught; they are only expected to memorize the material, which is not actually a learning process. Although there are a lot of misconceptions to the “Banking method”, I think that there are also a lot of good to this method as well.
I think that the teacher’s job is to fill the students with their knowledge, but I don’t think this is the only job of the teacher. The teacher also needs to present the material in a way that is interesting to the students. The teachers should not only give the information and materials to the student, but also make sure the technique they use allows the student to critically apply the material to their real life. They also need to be able to learn the material in a way that that will make them remember it even after they take the test.
My English teacher in grade school used the “banking concept” method of teaching and all we ever did in her class was take notes and then study the notes and have a test on it. I did not learn much that year, because I only memorized the material so that I would do well on the test. The next year in my English class I felt really behind because I did not really know what I was doing. Most people don’t learn well just by memorizing the material, because you will not be able to remember it later on. I learn better in a class where the teacher tries their best to relate the information to our lives and gives plenty of examples that are interesting to the students.
All my mathematics teachers have pretty much used the method of education by memorization and I think this method is ok for this specific subject. When we were little kids, we memorized the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division tables, and we have used these tables our whole lives.

Importance Of Education

Generally, at the start of a very young age, children learn to develop and use their mental, moral and physical powers, which they acquire through various types of education. Education is commonly referred to as the process of learning and obtaining knowledge at school, in a form of formal education. However, the process of education does not only start when a child first attends school. Education begins at home. One does not only acquire knowledge from a teacher; one can learn and receive knowledge from a parent, family member and even an acquaintance. In almost all societies, attending school and receiving an education is extremely vital and necessary if one wants to achieve success.

However, unfortunately we have places in the world, where not everyone has an opportunity to receive this formal type of education. The opportunities that are offered are greatly limited. Sometimes there are not enough resources to provide schooling. Furthermore because parents need their children to help them work in factories, have odd jobs, or just do farm work.

Since it is not traditional, in some places, to receive a formal education, the one who receives an education is usually envied, praised and even admired by members of the community. Children sometimes look at other children with awe. Just the same way as one child might envy another because he got a new pair of sneakers, and wishes he could have too. There is a sense of admiration but at the same time there is a sense of jealousy as well. Seeing your peer doing better than yourself causes some tension and jealousy because of the scarce opportunities available. As a child, it's hard to understand why there is a difference.
